About the Department:

The Department of Finance & Banking Science was established at Irbid National University in 2000, where it began as a department that grants a bachelor’s degree in financial and banking sciences and the study plan includes 132 credit hours, and the study plan applied in the department matches the best standards and practices at the local and regional levels, and the department has focused its attention on the quality of outputs more than on their size, and to this end, the university was keen to attract distinguished faculty members and Those with experience in the academic and professional fields, which would raise the level of graduates and facilitate their entry into the labor market after their graduation. The initial special accreditation of the master’s program in finance and banking was recently approved by the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission by Resolution No. 260/29/2020 dated 19/8/ 2020, which aims to:

  • Consolidating the rules of scientific research at the university and raising the level of teaching in the fields of knowledge of the financial and banking sciences.
  • Enhancing students’ research and analysis skills in the field of specialization, developing their abilities, renewing their knowledge, enhancing the values of initiative and innovation, and providing them with the opportunity for research, experimentation and creativity.
  • Scientific and cognitive advancement of students and participants in financial and banking sciences programs and upgrading them to a level that keeps pace with the developments of the times.
  • Successfully addressing the problems of society in a scientific manner, carrying out applied studies and proposing scientific treatments for issues of money and banking management.
  • Meet the local community’s need for specialists in the field of financial and banking sciences as an applied scientific field practiced in all public and private organizations.
  • Providing job opportunities that require higher degrees in prestigious institutions in the public and private sectors.

The study plan for the master’s program in banking and finance includes 33 credit hours, including 15 hours of compulsory courses, 9 hours of elective courses and 9 hours of thesis.
