On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on 12/3 of each year, and with the aim of integrating people with special needs into the local community, providing them with aid and assistance, and introducing their rights in society, the Deanship of Student Affairs at Irbid Private University, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Majed Abu Zureiq, President of the University, held an awareness seminar on this occasion, in cooperation with the Club for People with Disabilities, the Nahn Platform Initiative, in the presence of Professor Dr. Ghassan Al-Shammari, Vice President, Dr. Fayez Atoum/Dean of Student Affairs, deans, a number of members of the teaching and administrative staff, a large gathering of university students, and interested people from the local community, in the Al-Kindi Auditorium.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Fayez Al-Atoum delivered a speech in which he welcomed the university president, Prof. Majid Abu Zuraiq, the event’s sponsor, and the attendees. He said: “I am pleased to stand with you to participate in a sublime and exceptional occasion that reflects the highest meanings of noble humanity, namely the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, who are an integral part of the fabric of this society. They are the people of determination whom we are proud of, their initiatives and achievements. This day is not just a passing occasion, but rather a call for deep thinking and positive change towards building a just society that achieves integration and appreciation for all its members. Yes, they are the people of determination, and they are the narrators of inspiring stories that break the shackles of the impossible every day. Their stories teach us that strength is not in bodies, but in determination, resolve and creativity, this creativity that is not limited by obstacles but is born from challenges. At our beloved university, we do not look at people with disabilities as a group that deserves help, but rather we see them as creative leaders capable of shaping the features of the future. That is why we affirm today our continued commitment to providing a comprehensive educational environment that supports diversity of abilities.” It embraces all ambitions, and let us on this day and from this platform make this day a station to rethink our roles. Universities are not only a place to receive knowledge, but they are platforms to empower young people with disabilities to become an influential voice in their communities. Through awareness and empowerment, we can build a bridge towards a future that reflects the values of justice and equality. I say with certainty that people with disabilities do not need sympathy, but rather faith in their abilities and continuous support to achieve their dreams. With them and with them, we build a future and walk together hand in hand. Happy New Year to the homeland. Happy New Year to people with disabilities, the title of challenge and creativity. May God protect our homeland and our leader..
